Supplies to make a cherry bracelet
Elastic (.5mm)
Red seed beads (size 6 or 8)
Green seed beads (size 6 or 8)
Spacer beads
scissors
e6000
tape
Bead needle (optional!)
The reason I like the size .5mm elastic is that it’s thin enough to be able to run through beads twice- which is needed in this project!
The need needle is optional- you can do this without it. BUT it does make it really easy to string the cherries or daisies! They are very inexpensive so I think they are worth it!
How to Make a Cherry Beaded Bracelet
You need to cut the elastic a little longer than just a regular beaded bracelet since you are doubling back with the elastic and will use more of it. I usually cut mine about 12 inches. You will need to go longer if you want to make an anklet, a necklace or have larger wrists!
I always add a piece of scotch tape about an inch up on my elastic. This ensures that I have enough elastic to tie a knot at the end AND will keep any beads from slipping off! (NOTHING frustrates me more than dropping beads!)
IF you are using a bead needle, string it. It has a giant hole in the middle so it’s easy to add the elastic through!
Decide what colors of beads you want and pour out a few on a plate to keep them from scattering everywhere.
I found that I really liked 5-6 beads in between each cherry. You can decide how many beads in between the cherries you want to go. If you do the cherries too close, it can be hard to tell what they are! For this tutorial, I used white beads for my filler, green for the cherry leaf, and red for the cherries.
I string the 6 white spacer beads on and then add 1 green bead and 2 red beads. 1 leaf and 2 cherries. The leaf bead goes first.
You are going to take the end of the elastic (or the needle) and loop back through the green bead.
You only pull the elastic through the green and not the red beads. The needle or end of the elastic is going from the spacer beads towards the red beads.
This will create a loop of the elastic that will get smaller as you pull it all they way through.
Once the elastic is pulled tight, you start stringing the spacer beds and then the leaf and cherry beads again. Repeat until your bracelet is long enough!
Finishing the cherry bracelet
Once your bracelet is long enough to fit around your wrist (or neck!) it’s time to finish it! I like to tie a square knot. You tie a knot, then switch the strings and tie another knot. There are great diagrams on the internet if you need a visual!
I tuck the elastic back through the beads next to the knot and then add a dob of e6000 to really secure it! This dries pretty quickly but does take 12-24 hours to cure.
And then you get to enjoy your darling cherry bracelet! It’s so fun to see how different they all look with different colors!
