Get ready for spooky season with this build a haunted house craft that’s free for you to download!
I love Halloween and with two children of my own I know from experience how much kids get excited about the big day whether that’s planning a costume for trick or treating, getting ready for a Halloween party or just thinking of all the candy they’re hoping to get!
This Halloween craft is a fun way to keep them busy in the build up without you having to spend a fortune.
Build A Haunted House Craft
Halloween has to be one of the most fun times of the year for kids with dressing up, sweets and loads of decorations everywhere.
As a parent, my kids have always asked to make loads of Halloween crafts (normally last minute) but as I’m also the one paying for the dressing up, sweets and decorations I must admit that I tend to try and find some cheaper Halloween ideas to keep them busy!
This haunted house craft is free for you to download and there’s loads included in the PDF file that kids can add to our spooky old house to decorate it with ghosts, monsters, a bat and a jack o’lantern pumpkin.
It’s great for making at home together but likewise if you need something to keep a classroom full of kids busy then it’s a good resource too.
More Haunted House Ideas
I love haunted house crafts and as you guys do as well I’ve shared quite a few ideas so that you can find the one that’s perfect for your child’s abilities and interests.
As well as this cut and paste craft we also have a basic haunted house template that’s perfect for using as a coloring sheet or you can check out our 3D haunted house craft that’s perfect to use as a decoration – you can even put an LED light inside it!
What Materials Do You Need For Your Haunted House?
Haunted house craft PDF
Two pieces of white paper
Scissors
Glue
Colored pencils or markers
Cut and Paste Haunted House
Start by printing both pages of the PDF onto white paper. You can use thicker paper or cardstock if you want your craft to be a little sturdier but generally for most purposes normal printer paper is fine.
Color in all the parts on both pages of the printable. You’ll only need to color in three windows so decide if you’d like the ones with monsters in or without. Of course you can do a mixture of both or you could draw your own creatures into the windows.
Using scissors cut out all of the parts following the dotted lines around them then start building your haunted house by gluing the turrets to the top of the building.
Finish building your house by gluing on your door, bricks and windows, again you only need to add the three you want. Add a little bit of glue to the bottom of your chimneys and stick these to the back of your turrets so that they stick out.
Now it’s time to add all the extra decorations to your haunted house. In the corner of the first page of the printable you’ll see a little black and white illustration of how the finished craft can look but you’re free to stick all of your spooky items wherever you like on your house to decorate it.
Use the wooden planks to board up the front door and windows, add your spider and spiders web and your jack o’lantern. Finally glue on your three ghosts and stick the moon onto the back of your haunted house craft so that it peeks out from behind the turrets before you add your bat to fly in front of it.
